5 Oct 2022 Prayers from the Episcopal Relief & Development

This is a wonderful section of the Episcopal Relief & Development web site.  Topics are perfect in this post hurricane time.  Here is a link to the page and some selected prayers.

Episcopal Relief & Development Pray

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love’s sake.

– Book of Common Prayer, Evening Prayer II

Holy One, you are our comfort and strength
in times of sudden disaster, crisis or chaos.
Surround us now with your grace and peace
through storm or earthquake, fire or flood.

By your Spirit, lift up those who have fallen,
sustain those who work to rescue or rebuild,
and fill us with the hope of your new creation;
through you, our rock and redeemer.

– Jesuit Prayer

God of the present moment, God who in Jesus stills the storm and soothes the frantic heart; bring hope and courage to all as we wait in uncertainty. Bring hope and peace with whatever lies ahead.  Bring us courage to endure what cannot be avoided.  For your will is health and wholeness; you are God, and we need you.
